Historically the IC SA team has dominated the tournament and have been unbeaten since inception in 2008. With inclusion of Ethiopia for the first time, it was expected that the quality of tennis would improve.
In the final, however, the South Africans encountered very little resistance from the east Africans and won all six encounters. IC SA will head to California next year to represent the continent in the world finals.
During the course of the event, aspiring tennis players from the local townships took part in a coaching clinic. Children from Daveyton and Vosloorus took part in a full-day training session, coaching drills and lessons.
