Karate champions make coach proud

Each belt group had a certain time to compete, and only that group was allowed into the dojo.

The East Gauteng Tenshinkan Championships took place recently and the LifeStyle Centre Karate group placed well.

The karatekas left their coach, Shihan-Dai Catherine Venter, very proud.

“The championship was a success,” she said.

“I foresee the rest of the year to be just as successful, as this was our first championship.”

Each belt group had a certain time to compete, and only that group was allowed into the dojo.

“Everyone’s temperatures were taken and hands sanitized at the door,” she explained.

“The floor was marked where each participant had to sit and the parent’s seats were also marked.”

Before and after each bout, the mitts were sanitized and after each group, the floors were sanitized.

“The championship was well organised and ran like clockwork,” she said.

“The students and parents were cooperative and adhering to the Covid rules, the same rules and procedures will apply for the rest of the year.”
