The Action Sport autumn season has come to an end, and the results are as follows:

Action netball

Women

A division: gold – Flaming Daisies, silver – Blue Ice, bronze – OG’s, plate – u-23 ladies and player of the season: Nicky van der Walt

The captain of the Knockers said:

“It’s our second season playing at the Benoni arena and our team really has come a long way. I’m proud of all the team members and how we have evolved and learnt to play well together.

“The final was nail-biting stuff, scores were even at full-time and even in extra time going to sudden death. I have to say our opponents (Bulldogs) are a brilliant team and I have to congratulate them on their sterling performance. I’m sure it won’t be our last showdown with them. Lastly, thanks to all our sponsors and supporters, we will carry on trying our best.”

Christine Straussner, arena manager, said:

“We faced many challenges with the autumn season due to lockdown being implemented as we began our play-offs. All our teams returned after lockdown, not as fit, but hungry to play the sport they love.

“Our grand finals were played over two weekends, with a total of 37 grand finals played across action netball, hockey, cricket and volleyball. We had a few nail-biters with extremely close games.

“Congratulations to all our medal winners and thank you for all your continued support. We look forward to the new season.”
