T20 League swings into action

Benoni Northerns and Actonville Spurs were both seen fighting their oppositions for the win.

The Benoni Northerns Premier League T20 Competition began on October 17, where Actonville Spurs Cricket Club and Benoni Northerns Cricket Club competed against their opposing teams at Willowmoore Park Stadium.

Benoni Northerns versed Avion

“We have played three games so far,” said Nick Moragemos, Northerns coach.

“We beat Duduza with a bonus point last Saturday, Duduza got 126 and we hit their score in 14 overs. We beat Boksburg last Sunday as they got 153 and we got their score in the last over.”

They then beat Avion on October 17, Avion scored a total of 125 runs which Northerns were able to match in 12 overs, winning with a bonus point.

“I’m very happy with how the boys are progressing through the tournament. We still haven’t quite hit 100% yet as some of the guys are still a bit rusty, but each week they are getting better and better. We have a great atmosphere in our squad and the boys are enjoying themselves. We are looking forward to the upcoming season,” concluded Moragemos.

Northerns will be playing at Willowmoore Park Stadium again this weekend against CBC on Saturday and Actonville on Sunday, both games beginning at 13:30.

Actonville Spurs versed CBC

“We’ve already beaten Avion and Duduza in the opening two games,” said Zunaid Seedat, public relations officer of Actonville Spurs.

“In this most recent game against CBC, Actonville were around 20 runs short of what we thought was a good score. Some poor batting decisions and good bowling coupled with some poor fielding contributed to our downfall. But they are still keeping their heads up and we are ready to go again. It’s a young team and they’re looking forward to bouncing back from this defeat.”

Actonville will be playing at Willowmoore Park Stadium again this weekend against Boksburg.
