Local badminton player could be heading to Antarctica
The top five will be chosen and announced at the end of the boot camp week.
Local badminton player Keaton Stansfeld was awarded his Junior National Blazer recently.
He was also part of the team that won the All Africa Badminton Championship last year.
However, what is more exciting is that he has been chosen as one of the Top 10 matriculants to attend a boot camp at Cape Nature’s Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve from January 10 to 14, to select five to travel to Antarctica in February.
This is where he will need to show them why he should be in the top five headed to Antarctica on February 10.
The top five will be chosen and announced at the end of the boot camp week.
“He started in thousands, went to 100, then 50 and now 10,” said Keaton’s mother, Fiona.
“Angie Motshekga (South African politician and educator serving as the Minister of Basic Education) will announce the top five but making it is really next to impossible. But we all feel he has a fantastic chance and can’t wait to see if he has made it.”
