Sid promoted to international tournament director

In his new role, Ismail will direct national events in the country.

The Benoni Bridge Club’s Sid Ismail has been promoted to National Bridge Organisation (NBO) international tournament director by the World Bridge Federation.

Ismail told the City Times he was excited and will serve with distinction.

In his new role, Ismail will direct national events in the country and serve as an advisor to tournament directors across the country for problem-solving and urgent rulings.

“My role will also include the dissemination of information from the WBF to the South African Bridge Federation (SABF), zoom workshops for tournament directors and serving as a law columnist in the national bridge bulletin.”

President of the SABF, James Grant stated that this was a proud moment for the country.

“This is a great honour for Sid. On behalf of all of us, well done to Sid,” Grant said.
