WATCH: Sideways fun at The Rock

Round five of the Drift Masters South African championship is on August 6 at The Rock Raceway.

It was a smoky affair at The Rock Raceway in Brakpan on July 29 as drift masters showcased their skills of burning rubber and keeping a car sideways.

Screeching sounds and the smell of smoke and fuel left delighted petrol heads in a spin as the drivers put on an impressive show, preparing for round five of the Drift Masters South African Championship on August 6 at the same venue.

According to Chantal Bronchorst, the series was started by drivers who shared a similar passion of growing the sport and making it accessible.

“We aim to give the drivers and crowd an exceptional experience at every event. This series aims to make drifting fun again and involve all the old time drifters and include the new and upcoming drifters,” she said.

Bronchorst added that fans can expect a thrilling event with lots of tyre burning and smoke on August 6.

“Our ambitions are to conceptualise motorsports eventing and introduce it to patrons and the unconverted by making it fun, exciting and real-life live entertainment.

The Rock Raceway’s Tim Stephens.

“Fans can expect an experience where the noise factor and tyre smoking abilities of a drifter and his machine can appeal and ignite their passion for the sport.”
