Comrades Marathon route distance and cut-offs
This year's race will be 299m shorter because of road works.
The 2022 Comrades Marathon, a down run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban on August 28, will feature six official cut-off points.
This was confirmed by the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) race director Rowyn James who also revealed that the official race distance is 89.885km.

Drummond (halfway) – 44.27km – 45.91km – 06:10:00 (11:40)

Pinetown – 68.86km – 21.32km – 09:30:00 (15:00)
Sherwood – 80:88km – 9km – 11:10:00 (16:40)

James confirmed this after the completion of the official route course measurement conducted by the CMA’s route portfolio, Road Traffic Inspectorate, Msudunzi Traffic and the Department of Transport.
According to James, participants will run 299m shorter than they did in the 2018 down run, mainly as a result of the current roadworks.
