Sunshine Tour comes to Ebotse

This three-day tournament will celebrate a field of 120 professional players.

The Sunshine Tour is proud to announce the introduction of The Fortress Invitational, a new tournament set to be played at the Ebotse Links, Benoni, from October 7 to 9.

The tournament is sponsored by Fortress Real Estate.

A total of 120 professional players are expected to take to the field to fight for the R1.5m prize money.

The Fortress Invitational is expected to draw a quality field of youth and experience including Albert Venter, the current Luno Order of Merit leader and the two-time winner this season already, first-time winners Herman Loubser, Dylan Mostert and Anthony Michael, and rising star Jayden Schaper who will be playing at his home course.

They will join established Sunshine Tour stars such as Jaco van Zyl, Neil Schietekat, Jean Hugo, Jaco Ahlers and Hennie Otto, whilst previous course winner Jbé Kruger is also expected to return.

Ebotse Links – the only inland Links course in South Africa – is a Peter Matkovich signature design golf course with 7 holes on the water and has been built to US PGA specifications.

The 54-hole event significantly bolsters a Sunshine Tour schedule that is now over 35 tournaments strong and is one of several new tournaments announced this season. The addition of The Fortress Invitational adds to the quality of high-level brands associated with the Sunshine Tour and Southern African professional golf.

“We’re very excited to announce the new Fortress Invitational as we keep growing our schedule and providing quality playing opportunities for our member professionals,” said Thomas Abt, commissioner of the Sunshine Tour.
