Not a good day at the office for Old Bens
Old Bens have now won two and lost two matches.
Old Bens’ young side endured a frustrating day as they fell to Avion Park and Actonville Spurs in the Eastern Premier T20 cup on October 23.
They lost their contest against Avion by nine wickets while Spurs grabbed a seven-wicket win.
In the early game against the Kempton Park side, Bens had themselves to blame as they registered a paltry 118 runs which their opponents chased with relative ease.

On a lush green pitch at Willowmoore Park, Avion captain Ruan Kotze won the toss and decided to field first.
That decision was rewarded instantly as Renco Adams grabbed the wicket of Xavier Coetzee with the second ball of the second over. Coetzee’s shot was caught by Keegan Klue.
The experienced Justin Gamble came to the crease and shared a 55-ball 53 runs partnership with Tristan Fletcher before he was dismissed for 33.
The left-hander attempted a maximum but the shot wasn’t powerful enough. It was caught at long off by Neo Felane.

Captain Justin Brink joined Fletcher in the middle but was dismissed by Francois Lotter for 16 in the 13th over.
Fletcher’s innings came to an end two overs later when his long attempt was caught at the boundary by Kagiso Mashikaro from Adams’ effort.
He was followed to the shed immediately by Christiaan Duvenage (1) who was bowled by Abel Mbewe, whose rocket sent the bails flying.
The visitors scored 118/5 in their 20 overs, setting Avion a target of 119 to win.

Avion openers De Klerk and Pieters immediately asserted their authority in the middle with clean strokes, scoring 40 runs inside the power-play.
They shared a first-wicket partnership of 83 before De Klerk was run-out by wicket-keeper Coetzee in the 12th over.
By then the contest was over as Owen Stolle (8) ensured Pieters stayed on strike and the latter’s top score of 72 ensured Avion take all the points.
Spurs make light work of Bens
Against Spurs, it was a familiar story as they lost the toss and were sent in to bat first. Zubayr Turky worked through the top order, grabbing two wickets in the power-play.

The Clarke brothers joined the party in the middle overs and quickly took the game away from the home side.
Bowling for the first in the premier league, 15-year-old Devandre ended with figures of 4/6, including a run-out.
Devon grabbed three scalps and conceded 23 runs to dismiss Old Bens for 95 runs.
Chasing a target of 96 to win, captain Saahil Khan and Abid Turky shared a 50-run partnership with Khan scoring 38 to guide their team to a seven-wicket win.
