SAPS donates sports equipment

Our crime fighters donated sports equipment to the learners at Kgothalang Primary School.

The Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela donated sports gear to Kgothalang Primary School in Wattville on June 8 to help learners in extra-curricular sports activities.

Mawela was accompanied by Actonville SAPS station commander, Colonel Mbhazima Maswanganyi, sector managers, the CPF and members from Sanlam.

The Actonville SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Gift Chiloane, said the stakeholders decided to donate equipment for soccer, netball, chess and cricket.

“We chose to donate these items because sports keep children away from crime and off the streets. We hope this donation will help learners progress more in our community,” said Chiloane.

The school was grateful for the donation.

Principal Magdeline Jita said it was the largest donation the school had ever received.

“We have a few people who donate to the school, but this one was greater. We hope more sponsors acknowledge our school and donate,” said Jita.
