Don’t judge a book by its cover

How often have you picked up a book and thought it daunting to read; until you read past the front cover?

The saying “you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover” has been one I’ve never forgotten.

I have been reading more and more books lately and really started agreeing with the age old saying.

I have often looked at book covers and thought that I’d rather run the Comrades Marathon than subject myself to a boring 500 page book.

Yet, when you get into it, you just can’t stop reading.

This idiom doesn’t only speak of books, but people, too.

People (myself included) tend to make assumptions of others based on their appearance (the book cover) and reputation (the author).

But it’s not till we spend a bit of time with the book and read for a few pages that we see what their story really is and what they are all about.

We should not judge people based on those initial “facts”, but should rather explore them ourselves.

The fact is that you should be a bookworm before you judge your next book. KvdL
