Maris Stella Celebrates 120 Years

Maris Stella School -still creating and leaving a legacy at 120-years strong
Maris Stella School encourages critical and creative thinking and their aim is to instil in girls the necessary skills and confidence for them to make significant, positive contributions to an ever-changing world, and embrace the future with confidence.
“We believe in empowering our girls with the right tools to find their own paths, to become the people they were meant to be,” says Principal Joan Schmidt. “As we celebrate Maris Stella’s 120th birthday this year, we honour the many strong, independent women who have played such an important role in shaping Maris Stella into the beautiful school it is today. We are so proud of our girls, and our past pupils, who take the lessons of dignity, respect and compassion with them as they go out into the world, remembering that courage will always triumph.”
In their beautiful birthday Mass, Cardinal Napier brought to mind the wisdom of Pope John Paul, who said that we should remember the past with gratitude, live the present with enthusiasm and embrace the future with confidence, and reminded the girls, staff, parents and old girls that they have so much to be grateful for as they celebrated the courage and grace of all those who have gone before them.
Maris Stella is grateful for all the support from their fellow schools and the Berea community over the years, and looks forward to continuing to fulfil its mission of giving girls the best opportunities to develop academically, physically and spiritually.
