Teeing-off for The Sunflower Fund

A whopping R91 000 was raised at a charity golf day at Mount Edgecome Country Club.

MORE than 160 golfers took to the greens at Mount Edgecombe Country Club to play in the Sunflower Fund’s charity golf day and raised R91 105 for the fund.

Funds raiseds will be used to recruit more committed, healthy donors to the South African Bone Marrow Registry. The larger the Registry the more chance children and young adults, diagnosed with leukaemia, have of finding their life-saving match.

It was the seventh consecutive year that Rodel Financial Services was the main sponsor. Greenday Property was this year’s co-sponsor with The International Hotel School assisting with registration and raffle sales on the day.

Wayne Fyvie compered the evening and entertained all during the prizegiving and dinner with his many golfing and rugby stories. The prize of a two-hour cruise on the ‘Spirit of eLan’ was awarded to Ross Leah for being the first person to enter and pay for his four ball team.

The Sunflower Fund extended it sthanks to Shackleton Risk Management for their generous donation. They ran a competition on their sponsored tee and all money raised was donated to The Sunflower Fund.

The top 20 four balls on course one and the top six four balls on course two received a sponsored prize.
