Motorists injured in smash

Paramedics used the jaws of life to free a trapped driver.

TWO motorists were injured in a collision at the intersection of Ordinance and Shepstone Roads just after 5.30am on Tuesday.

Rescue Care paramedics found a car had collided with a traffic light before overturning, leaving the driver trapped in the wreckage.

One injured passenger was able to climb out of the car before paramedics arrived. Paramedics from Rescue Care and ER24 worked to stabilise the two patients.

The Fire Department used special hydraulic equipment to free the trapped driver. Both men were transported to hospital.

It is unclear what caused the collision however the necessary authorities were on the scene and will be investigating further.
