Glenwood fall flat in semi final
Glenwood lacked its usual energy in its match against Comtech at the weekend.

IN a tensely fought semi final soccer match against Comtech at the weekend, Glenwood started well, pushing the ball around intelligently, creating good spaces and this resulted in a well taken goal by Marvin Van Zuydam.
Then every thing went wrong. Glenwood appeared to back off, fell back too deep inviting the opposition to get close to their goal and gave away far too many passes, resulting in Comtech scoring the equalizer.
Despite fighting hard, Glenwood were too flat to pose any threat to the opposition’s goal. The scores were equal 1-1 at full time which meant a penalty shoot out. Glenwwod missed 3 penalties and only scored 1 through van Zuydam. The disappointing end result was Glenwood lost 3-1 on penalties.
In the 3/4th playoffs against Ogwini, Glenwood battled to get going in this game, and went down 2-0 to end up 4th in the tournament.
The 9Bros cup finals were played at King Zwelitini stadium in Umlazi. The facilities and playing pitch were of international standard. The quality of the officials was good and the standard of football was extremely high. The matches were played in good competitive spirit and no disruptions or violence occurred on or off the field.
The hospitality for the teams and officials from the sponsors, 9BROS, was superb and of course a huge compliment must go to S.E.S-SCHOOL SPORT Ben Dladla of the education department for overseeing the whole event and maintaining a disciplined approach towards all present.
