Golf Day to support elderly
Support TAFTA by participating in their Golf Day at the Royal Durban Golf Club on 31 October.
THE Association for the Aged, TAFTA, in conjunction with the Masonic Order (Masonic Services) will host a Golf Day to raise funds to assist with providing Christmas hampers for the needy elderly in tits care on Thursday, 31 October at the Royal Durban Golf Club.
TAFTA’s Ateesha Rampersad said the non-profit organisation encourages and invites the public to show support and participate in this tournament for a worthy cause. “Over the years we have been privileged to have received support from generous friends like Masonic Services which helps us alleviate the distress of older people, especially during the festive season.”
Rampersad said the festive season, was one of the loneliest times for many of the elderly. “It’s no one’s fault but time. Time robs the older people of their loved ones and their dignity, it is cruel and relentless particularly at this time of year when there are so many reminders of past happiness and joy. Most of the older people have really modest hopes such as to see family and friends on Christmas morning… sadly for many it’s a forlorn hope.”
According to Rampersad, community participation and generosity at the golf day will enable TAFTA to provide hampers for approximately 1500 older people this Christmas. If you are unable to participate, a donation or sponsoring a set of prizes would be appreciated.
