Flood of entries for surf fest
Surfers from all over the country are scrambling to enter the 2013 Umhlanga Lizzard Nature Valley Surf Fest.
THERE has been an over whelming response of entries for the 2013 Umhlanga Lizzard Nature Valley Surf Fest taking place on 7 and 8 December. KZN Central Surfing Chairman Paul Izzard is concerned that there are so many surfers taking part that late entries will not be accommodated due to time constraints over the weekend. The U16 boys’ division in particular is very full at this stage as well as the open men’s division. With close on R100 000 on offer in prize money and products, this year is guaranteed to attract surfers from across the country and large crowds of spectators. Masters Men winners will be rewarded with R5000 cash from Varsity College together with a weekend away in Mozambique from the Mets, valued at a further R5000.
Berea resident and marketing manager of Lizzard, Gavin Roberts is considered to be one of the best competitors in the Open Men’s Division. Roberts spent years traveling the world on the professional surfing tour and gained valuable knowledge. “I am really happy with how the organisation of the event has taken place and how many surfers from all over have entered. This is going to be a great weekend. We invite all families to come down and enjoy the fun in the sun,” says Gavin.
To enter go to www.kzncentralsurfing.co.za or call Janine Mets on 082 776 8433 or Paul Izzard on 082 555 6161.
