Gran (103) meets theatre cast

A 103 year old gran made a special trip with family and friends to the Playhouse to catch the popular musical West Side Story on Saturday.

MORNINGSIDE granny, Ray Subban met the whole cast of West Side Story after her special trip to watch the spectacular song and dance extravaganza at the Playhouse on Saturday, 30 November.

Ray, who lives on Florida Road with her daughter in law, Mavis and grand daugther, Jackie, is 103 years old. She went to the theatre with friends and family as a Saturday outing.

“My gran goes out with us at least once a week, usually for Sunday lunch. She was able to watch the show because it was a matinee,” Jackie said. When asked what she thought of the show, Ray said, “It was alright, quite good.”

In her youth, Jackie said Ray was a fan of the theatre and they wanted to bring her to see the popular show.

Local Glenwood actor, Adam Dor’e was amazed that that the centenarian made the trip to see the performance, “Wow. It’s just amazing that she’s here,” he said after greeting her.
