Register with community tourism organization
Durban tourism establishments are to register with a Durban CTO.

IN KwaZulu-Natal, all businesses deemed to primarily cater to tourists are required by provincial legislation to register with the Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDT) or Tourism KwaZulu-Natal (TKZN) and to do that the DEDT requires them to join a local community tourism organisation (CTO).
CTOs have been established through provincial legislation, so that local role-players within the tourism industry can have more of a say in how the city is promoted and marketed worldwide. In years past, there was no CTO for the Durban Central area and as a result Durban Tourism handled the registration of members in this area.
Registration of Durban Central role-players will be processed by the Durban CTO instead of by Durban Tourism. If you have previously registered with Durban Tourism you will need to re-register with the Durban CTO, even if your Membership Certificate from Durban Tourism has not yet expired.
Membership is compulsory for accommodation establishments, establishments that host events and conferences, art galleries, museums and travel related services.
The Durban CTO is offering a late registration fee discount of 50 per cent and your membership needs to be renewed each year by 1 July.
