Overgrown substation cause for concern
A resident has contacted the municipality many times to have a substation in his road attended to.
AN overgrown property on which a substation stands has become cause for concern for residents in Kilburn Road.
Resident, Meyrick Rubin said the substation has been overgrown for weeks and to add to the problem, people are also using the unsightly patch to illegally dump their rubbish. This he said, has attracted rats to the area. to
“It takes minimal time to attend to this, but immediate attention is needed. I have spoken to the helpline at the electricity department and no one has done anything. It is now nine weeks since my first call. It is unsightly and a health hazard,” he said.
Rubin said he had phoned the health department but had no further joy.
“In the past people would inspect an issue, now you are given a reference number and you have to wait for it to be reported. A reference number means little. I have said if I could be supplied with the key, I would maintain it myself, but of course, that wasn’t appreciated,” he said.
Jethro Lefevre, ward councillor, said he was not aware of the complaint.
“Like all complaints, I rely on the officials to do their jobs and ensure that complaints are answered and attended to on time. I will check the site out and see something is done,” he said.
