Racing to save the rhinos
The horseracing fraternity is getting involved in the fight to save the rhinos in South Africa.
RECOGNISING the need to support the huge efforts already in place to save the rhino in South Africa, Gold Circle racing will throw its weight behind the cause this year in partnership with Project Rhino KZN.
All members of the horseracing fraternity are being invited to stand up for this critical plight by supporting a special race meeting which will take place at Greyville Racecourse on Friday night 21 March.
All the races at the race meeting are being offered to interested parties for sponsorship, with all the proceeds going directly to Project Rhino.
A competition to win a three-night stay for ten people at Bayete Zulu Game Lodge – Zululand Rhino Reserve is up for grabs and if the winner is at Greyville when the lucky entry is drawn, Gold Circle will add and additional prize of R5 000 cash to assist with catering while at the reserve.
Project Rhino KZN is an initiative of KZN’s conservation sector and unites the province’s state, private and civil society stakeholders. By working together, PRKZN adds extra levels of support and protection. Rhino poaching threats continue to intensify, as consumer demand from Asian countries show no signs of abating and are also driven by increasing numbers of local and international criminal syndicates.
