Servitude activities upset business, residents
A servitude off Crart Avenue, Bulwer, is being used by prostitutes to service clients.
RESIDENTS and business owners in Crart Avenue have called for the servitude in the road to be closed.
According to Heather Rorick of the Bulwer Community Safety Forum, the forum has observed prostitutes and clients ‘in the act’ in the servitude. She said the problem had become so bad that residents could not use their garages which were on the road because of the activity in Crart Avenue. “There are used condoms lying all over, as well as human faeces and other rubbish. I have had complaints from local businesses about this. Something needs to be done to have the road closed off so no one can access it. It is only used by a business as access to parking,” she said.
Ward councillor, Nicole Graham, said: “I have had contact with a few business owners in that area. It’s in an absolute state. They want to close the servitude, however closing it is quite a process and needs full community support in terms of national legislation. I explained this to the business owners and requested they arrange a meeting among themselves which I will attend and explain the process. I’m waiting for feedback from them,” she said.
