City Manager gets help

A Chief Operations Officer is to be appointed to run the day to day affairs of the City Manager's office.

LAST week’s council meeting saw councillors agree to bolster capacity in the City Manager’s Office with the creation of a post of a Chief Operations Officer (COO), who will run the day to day affairs of the office. Municipal spokesman, Thabo Mofokeng said in a media release the new position will relieve the City Manager to concentrate on more strategic roles.

Mayor Nxumalo said the position will assist in making the City Manager’s office more effective and efficient.

The COO would oversee the City Manager’s Office Support Services, Metro Police, Performance Monitoring and Evaluation as well as Legal Services and Compliance.
