Speedbumps installed on Montpelier Road
Speedbumps in Montpelier Road will hopefully slow speeding motorists down, says councillor.
AFTER years of complaints and a couple of near misses in front of the nursery school in Montpelier Road, speedbumps are finally being installed.
According to ward councillor, Martin Meyer, the city finally decided to install speedbumps along the road after a recent incident where a child was almost knocked over outside the nursery school.
“This is something I asked for years ago, as motorists use the road as a short cut between Musgrave and Argyle Roads, and scream down the road. This was approved in December, but nothing happened. A month ago I received calls from parents about the child that was almost knocked over by a speeding motorist and I urged the municipality to prioritise this job. Finally it has happened,” said Meyer.
He said he had also requested speed bumps be installed in Percy Osborn Road.
