A Telkom workforce has been taken to task by Essex Road residents after they dug open a hole in the road two weeks ago and then abandoned it.
A shocked Errol Eyden said the workforce did not work on the cables, but left the hole exposed which allowed water to run into the hole following heavy downpours. “The rain water will probably go underground to make a sink hole later. What a workforce Telkom have, what a planning system, what a management system. It’s just a matter of time before a heavy truck causes greater damage,” he said.
Ward councillor Nicole Graham said she would investigate and have the issue attended to.
