Police seek relatives of four deceased found in Sydenham

A fourth body was discovered by police in Sydenham last week.

SYDENHAM police detectives are looking for the relatives of four deceased people whose bodies were found at Locksley Drive in Sydenham last week.

Four inquest dockets have been opened by police after a resident discovered the human remains in the bushes while he was searching for scrap metals on Tuesday, 25 March. The man reported the matter to the police and they investigated, finding two more bodies in the area after a search.

On Friday, 28 March another discovery of human remains was made in the same area by the Durban K9 Unit, Victim Identification Unit from Pretoria and Sydenham police members.

According to Captain Thulani Zwane, post-mortems will be conducted to determine the cause of death, possible date of the death as well as the identities of the four victims. “The motive and the circumstances surrounding their deaths are unknown at this stage. The number of the human remains recovered so far is four but police are still searching,” he added.

Police appeal to the community whose loved ones are missing or anyone who may have information surrounding their deaths to come forward and contact the Sydenham police station or Detective Branch Commander Colonel Ndlovu on 082 414 9260 or 031 203 2700.
