15 injured in Berea taxi crash

Fifteen people were injured when four taxis collided in Che Guvera Road on Saturday.

FIFTEEN people were left with various injuries on the M4 Durban bound before Moore Road on Saturday evening, which created high traffic congestion.

According to Garrith Jamieson, Operations Director of Rescue Care who were the first on scene, paramedics found four taxis had collided in the taxi lane.

Jamieson said paramedics quickly attended to the injured and found that one of the taxi driver’s was entrapped in the vehicle. “The fire department had to use the jaws of life to free the trapped driver. A total of 15 people had sustained various injuries and multiple ambulances were used to transport them to various hospitals for further care,” he added.

Police were on scene and assisted as traffic was badly affected with the two extreme right lanes closed while emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.
