Hike for a worthy cause

Take a hike on 15 June and raise much-needed funds for the Sunflower Fund.

KEEN hikers are encouraged to take part in this year’s Jade Sky Hike, in support of the Sunflower Fund.

Last year more than 250 hikers walked up Sani Pass in memory of Jade Preston, who died from leukaemia at the age of eight in 2007.

Organisers hope at least 300 hikers will take part in the 8th annual Jade Sky Hike on Sunday, 15 June, and remember all those who have lost their lives to cancer and celebrate with all cancer-survivors while raising awareness and much needed funds the Sunflower Fund and Veroney Judd-Stevens, who is currently battling breast cancer.

Hikers are encouraged to meet at the Sani Pass border post at 7.30am and be ready by 8am to hike or cycle up to the Highest Pub in Africa. Breakfast rolls and lunch will be on sale but all hikers are to bring their own refreshments for en-route. All ages and fitness levels are welcome and can hike at their own pace as it is not a race. The entry fee is R50 per person. Remember your passport.
