Plant Fair a feature at Sustainable Living expo
The Indigenous Plant Fair will be part on the Sustainable Living Exhibition this year.
THE Botanical Society will hold its annual Indigenous Plant Fair at the eThekwini’s Sustainable Living Exhibition at the Durban Exhibition Centre.
This event will run from Friday, 22 August through to Sunday, 24 August, allowing the public to enjoy both of these valuable exhibitions over a single weekend.
The Plant Fair will take place in the parking lot, while more than 200 exhibitors will be participating in the exhibition on the inside of the hall, showcasing a range of water and energy saving devices, recycling solutions, organic food gardening, arts and crafts and other inspiring innovations that will help towards becoming a more sustainable City.
There will be an amazing range of indigenous plants on sale at discounted prices at the Plant Fair. If you are not sure what to buy, plant experts will be on hand to assist you.
Going back to basics, the theme for the plant fair is ‘Gardening Naturally’. The Indigenous Gardening Handbook will be on sale. It contains a host of useful information for the avid gardener on topics such as natural fertilisers, natural pest control, plants for shady slopes or for hot, dry areas, groundcovers as a mulch, designing complete habitats, and crassula plants that attract beautiful butterflies.
For those purchasing lots of plants, you will be able to drive in and collect your plants from the secure holding bays. Trolleys and assistance will be available.
Entry is free, charge for parking only. Refreshments will be available over the three days.
