City officials to address public meeting on high rise applications
A meeting will be held at Musgrave Methodist Church where residents will be educated on land use management issues.
IN light of the many applications for high-rise buildings in and around the Berea, a community meeting will be held on Monday 27 October at Musgrave Methodist Church, 237 Musgrave Road, at 6.30pm, where attendees will be addressed by Land Use Management (LUM).
The meeting has been facilitated by ward councillors Nicole Graham and Martin Meyer, and residents are encouraged to attend to hear a discussion around development planning and management issues, including zoning, enforcement and land use management.
This meeting will concern residents of Glenwood, the Berea, Morningside and Sydenham.
“We have set up this meeting so LUM can explain to the community about densification, how rezoning works and what residents' rights are in the rezoning process. I feel clarity and communication are part of the problem and we want to empower the residents with knowledge. It is also important for LUM to hear from the residents, why they are objecting to rezoning and why they are so passionate about the whole thing,” said councillor Meyer.
He said in ward 27 alone, he had five applications still pending for rezoning.
“This number is still going to increase. We encourage as many people as possible to attend, knowledge is power,” he said.
