Residents want Crart servitude closed
Residents will apply for the servitude in Crart Avenue to be closed off.
BUSINESS owners in Crart Avenue, Glenwood, are doing all they can to have the servitude in the road closed off.
According to ward councillor, Nicole Graham, a joint application by residents and business owners in the road would need to be made to the municipality to make this a reality.
“The residents and business owners have agreed they don't want this road to remain open. Servitudes are nooks and crannies for criminals to hide in and I will be working with real estate to get the servitudes in the area closed,” she said.
The servitude in Crart Avenue has become a dumping ground for rubbish, human faeces and used condoms which are left lying on the ground in the servitude.
Heather Rorick of the Bulwer Community Safety Forum said forum members had observed prostitutes and clients ‘in the act’ in the servitude. She said the problem had become so bad that residents could not use their garages which were on the road because of the activity in Crart Avenue. She said something needed to be done urgently to close the servitude.
