Talk on garden design

Anno Torr will speak on indigenous garden design at the next BotSoc meeting.

THE Botanical Society of South Africa KZN Coastal Branch presents an illustrated talk entitled So What is Indigenous Garden Design? on Monday 24 November at Durban Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre, at 6pm.

The talk will be by Anno Torr, Editor of The Indigenous Gardener Digital Magazine. Anno will speak about the critical need for gardeners to be part of the fabric that protects indigenous flora while supporting urban wildlife which can only be achieved by changing the objectives of traditional garden design.

Colour schemes, focal points, texture, spatial organisation and composition, are all elements of this human-driven style, but Anno will speak on what principles guide indigenous garden design.

All welcome. Entrance, including refreshments, is R35 for members of BotSoc and the Friends of Durban Botanic Gardens, R45 for visitors and R25 for students with cards. Pay at the door. Proceeds will go to BotSoc branch projects.

For bookings or enquiries email: botsoc-kzn@mweb.co.za or contact 031 201 5111 or 071 869 3693.
