Bus strike leaves commuters stranded
eThekwini Municipality is in talks with Tansnat to resolve the current bus strike which has left commuters stranded.

EThekwini Municipality has announced an interruption in the municipal bus service, operated by Tansnat, to all areas following a strike by bus drivers.
On 31 December 2014 the majority of bus drivers downed tools and the service ran on a skeleton scale. However, due to incidents of intimidation, including the firing of shots at a bus at Gwala’s House at Ntuzuma on New Years day, all drivers on 2 January 2015, decided to not get behind the wheel.
Among the drivers’ complaints are issues of unpaid salaries for December 20154 and annual bonuses.
The Municipality extended its apologies to all commuters for the inconvenience caused.
Customers are urged to make alternative travel arrangements during this interruption. The Municipality is engaging with the operator to find a permanent solution to the challenges.
