Help Surfers Not Street Children fund its many projects for 2015 by donating funds.
THE local NPO, Surfers Not Street Children is preparing for a busy year, and is appealing to the community to help.
Surfers Not Street Children is a mentorship project and surfing team for former street children in Durban. The team is committed to inspiring other children still on the streets and engaging in advocacy around the global phenomenon of street children.
“2014 was a massive delivery year for us on a shoe string budget and we are pumped for 2015. Thanks to all those who partnered with us last year and continue to do now. We have a huge year planned,” said founder, Tom Hewitt.
Included in this is a new education programme, the next phase of the Surfhouse is about to start, there are also new aspects to the organisation's mentoring programmes, the organisation will be inspiring street children in Mozambique, Brazil and other cities in South Africa through surfing and sharing of life stories, and the group's new website will soon go live as a resource to explaining the street children phenomenon.
“We have so many other activities and a ton of advocacy and campaigns related projects planned. 2015 is a big one and we have some great partners, but need support from the community to get the funding for 2015's activities,” said Tom.
