Judgement in Brett Williams murder to be revealed in June
The man accused of killing former Royal Marine, Brett Williams, after a Super Rugby match outside Kings Park Stadium will know his fate in June.
THE fate of Blayne Shepard, the man accused of the brutal murder of former Royal Marine, Brett Williams, will be revealed in June this year.
The news came during a brief appearance Shepard made at the Durban Regional Court this week.
Williams had been beaten, but the court heard that he died as a result of a fall outside Kings Park Stadium after a Super Rugby match between the Sharks and Melbourne Rebels on 23 March, 2013.
Blayne Shepard, his brother Kyle Shepard, Andries van der Merwe and Dustin van Wyk were initially accused of the murder, while Grant Cramer was charged with assault.
Cramer turned state witness and charges against Kyle Shepard, Andries van der Merwe and Dustin van Wyk were dismissed in December 2014.
Magistrate Trevor Levitt has set Monday, 27 March for the defence and prosecution to conclude the trial with their closing arguments, while Monday, 29 June has been set for Levitt to deliver judgement.
