Man dies in crash
A man was killed and three others wounded in an accident in Rick Turner Road on Tuesday.
A MAN was killed in yet another accident on Rick Turner (Francois) Road on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Netcare 911 spokesperson, Chris Botha, a car collided with a bus then veered off, coming to rest against a tree.
One person tragically died and three others were injured. Netcare 911 paramedics, their rescue officer and the fire department arrived on the scene and found some of the injured still trapped in the twisted frame of the vehicle.
“Firemen and the rescue officer used the jaws of life to free the wounded in the vehicle while paramedics climbed into the wreckage to stabilise them. After triaging the injured it was found that a man had tragically died at the scene,” said Botha.
He said another person was critically injured and one was seriously injured, while a passenger from the bus escaped with minor injuries.
After the patients were treated at the scene paramedics transported them to various hospitals for further care.
“Exact details to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment,” said Botha.
Berea Mail has written numerous articles regarding accidents on this notorious road.
Ward councillor, Nicole Graham, said: “I have repeatedly asked Metro Police to enforce on this road, because traffic calming on a higher order road like this one is not permitted.”
