Umbilo clean-up efforts a success

A health day and clean up was held in and around Lantern Heath in Umbilo on Monday.

A COMMUNITY Health Day and clean up was held at Lantern Heath in Umbilo Road on Monday.

The city Health Department, the Parks Department, Metro Police, together with local councillor Nicole Graham and residents, undertook to clean-up he area while primary health care assistance was available to locals for blood pressure and HIV testing.

“We picked up litter and removed rubbish that had been dumped while nurses assisted with health issues. Metro Police issued fines and enforced by-laws including the arrest of a well-known whoonga dealer. Umbilo is hopefully looking a bit cleaner now, thanks to South Durban Basin, various municipal officials and community members who helped me organise this day,” said Graham.
