DUE to the recent spate of violence against foreign nationals in the City, the Municipality cancelled all ward-based draft budget and Integrated Development Plan (IDP) review hearings and instead only hosted four regional hearings.
However, the municipality views these consultations as vital in the progress and sustainability of the City and has made the decision to reschedule the ward-based meetings.
Mayor James Nxumalo urged residents to attend the hearings saying their input was an imperative part of the budget and IDP process.
“I would like to encourage residents to attend the hearings as it is their right to voice their opinion. All comments and suggestions from the community are valuable and will be given the due consideration before the 2015/16 Budget and IDP are approved and adopted,” he said.
Residents can attend a meeting at Curries Fountain on 23 April at 10am.
