BLUE Security armed response officers made three arrests and recovered stolen goods in separate incidents on the Berea over the past week.
According to operations manager, Brian Jackson, an alert armed response officer sprung into action when he noticed a suspicious looking individual carrying scaffolding jacks along Ferguson Road on Wednesday morning.
“Our officer approached the man who told him that he was working at a site in Umbilo Road. He then took him to the site and rang the intercom to speak to the owner who advised that there were no renovations taking place,” he said.
Jackson said the man then turned and fled the scene but the officer gave chase and arrested him and returned the stolen goods to their owner.
Umbilo SAPS detained the suspect.
Jackson said a second arrest took place in Wedgwood Crescent in Umgeni after an armed response officer chased and arrested a burglar.
A resident reported that two alleged burglars had jumped over the back fence and entered the property through a sliding door before fleeing with cameras, jewellery and other goods. The officer arrested one of the alleged burglars in a nearby park.
In another incident, a fence hopper was arrested in Venice Road at around 7.12pm last Tuesday evening.
According to Jackson, the man had been seen jumping over fences in Hollander Crescent before he fled to a property in Venice Road where he was arrested and handed over to the Berea SAPS.
