Make personal safety a priority

ADT Security asks: Is your personal safety top of mind?

NO matter how safe and secure we may feel at any time, ADT Security notes that it is important that we never let our guard down when it comes to personal safety.

“Being more aware of your surroundings and the people around you is the first step in securing your personal safety,” said Adrian Good, general manager: Subscriber Coastal, ADT Security.

Good said often people became so desensitised to what was happening around them, that they became easy targets for criminal elements in their midst.

“Avoiding potentially dangerous locations and situations is a logical but often overlooked aspect of personal safety. This is an issue that should be regularly addressed with family members and friends,” he said.

Good said there were several practical and pro-active precautions that could be taken to enhance personal safety such as avoiding dark parking garages and always having your keys on hand so that you can quickly get into your vehicle.

“If you are faced with an emergency situation, the most important thing to remember is to stay calm and to co-operate with the criminals, especially if they have a weapon. Be observant and take particular notice of any information that could help the South African Police Service apprehend the perpetrators,” he said.
