BLUE Security armed response officers working together with the police arrested four alleged housebreakers and robbers on the Berea over the past week.
Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said an armed response officer had arrested two alleged robbers in Oliver Lea Drive on Wednesday, while the SAPS K9 Dog unit had arrested a third suspect.
“One of our officers responded to a property in Oliver Lea Drive after a resident reported that two intruders had been seen on the premises. Our officer arrested one of the intruders but the second fled onto a neighbouring property where he was later arrested by the dog unit,” he said.
Jackson said the two men are believed to have been involved in a house robbery in the area. They were handed over to the Umbilo SAPS.
Jackson said a third robber was arrested after an officer responded to a resident who had been robbed while she was walking in Cromwell Road on Wednesday afternoon.
“The resident reported that she had been robbed by a man who grabbed her cellphone and fled down Oliver Place before fence hopping into Brand Road. Our officer tracked the alleged robber down and recovered the phone. The suspect was handed over to the Umbilo SAPS,” he said.
Jackson added that an alleged housebreaker was arrested in 12th Avenue on Thursday evening after he was caught at the entrance to a resident’s garage in possession of stolen goods. The Berea SAPS attended the scene and took the man into custody.
