Durban businessman shot in drive-by

A Durban businessman was seriously injured in a drive-by shooting in Maydon Road on Tuesday evening. According to reports, businessman Yusuf Omarjee lost control of his vehicle after it was fired upon and crashed into a truck.

Police spokesperson major Thulani Zwane confirmed the incident and said Omarjee had been driving along Maydon Road in Bayhead when a double-cab bakkie allegedly followed him and fired multiple shots at his vehicle. Omarjee sustained gunshot wounds in the attack and was rushed to hospital.

Zwane said the motive of the attack was unknown but that a case of attempted murder had been opened at Maydon Wharf police station.
