Don’t miss Umbilo pageant

The first Mr and Miss Umbilo will be crowned at a ceremony in Durban on Saturday.

MR and Miss Umbilo will be crowned this weekend, at the inaugural pageant on 26 September at the Methodist Church Hall, corner of Smith and Aliwal Street at 6pm.

This first ever crowning of Mr and Miss Umbilo will models in the beautiful garments by Durban grown international designers, among which are Nkululeko Njapha from Folweni, who recently wowed the crowds at the Durban Fashion Fair 2015 with his men’s wear range from the Lekonic Label, Vanessa Pillay and her company Hombre’ , Silungile Mokoena of House of Sluvin Designs and Thabisa Zungu of TDZ Designs.

Mr and Miss Umbilo 2015 seek to motivate the youth into uniting against crime in Umbilo and the surrounding communities. During weeks of training and workshopping around these issues, contestants have enjoyed sharing information with modelling industry professionals and social groups that fight crime.

Mr and Miss Umbilo 2015 has received much needed backing from the Umbilo Community Policing Forum and local businesses alike including Umbilo's Delish Farm Fresh Foods, Premier Foods, JD Plumbers and Hardware, Cedar Falls Spur – Southway Mall, The Vintage Spa (Musgrave) and Youngstar Production (KwaMashu).

The winners will walk away with prizes which include a once in a lifetime opportunity to compete in the Mr and Miss KZN 2016 courtesy of RoleModels SA, the custom designed and handcrafted crown (tiara) by Russian born designer and artist, Natalia Alexandrova, and other packed hampers and vouchers.
