Wanted murderer nabbed
A man wanted for murder, was traced down and arrested by police in Melmoth.

THE K9 Unit and National Intervention Unit arrested a 45-year-old suspect in Melmoth on 17 October, for murder.
According to Col Jay Naicker from SAPS, the man was wanted for a murder committed on 29 November 2014 in Cato Manor.
“It is alleged an altercation ensued between the deceased and the suspect, and the deceased was fatally stabbed. A murder case was opened at Cato Manor police station and the suspect went into hiding,” he said.
Naicker said Provincial Crime Intelligence members worked tirelessly and finally located the suspect in Melmoth where he was working for a political party as a regional organiser for the Umthonjaneni District.
“After information was gathered and verified, police proceeded to the Melmoth Town Hall where the party was having a meeting and arrested the suspect. He was taken to his place of residence in Makhasaneni and his house was searched. He was then transported to Durban where he will face a murder charge,” he said.
Investigators believe that they will also link the suspect to various murder cases committed at the KwaMashu Hostel. The suspect is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrates Court soon.
KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lt Gen Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended police on the perseverance in tracking down the murder suspect.
“We will trace, track and apprehend all those criminals who intend to make this province their criminal den. There will be no tolerance on such lawlessness in KwaZulu-Natal,” she said.
