Three arrested for theft by false pretencies

Three suspects were arrested for dealing in tanzanite stone to the value of R150 000.

DURBAN Central Crime Intelligence, Durban Organised Crime Unit and Point Visible Policing members conducted an operation at South Beach, Mahatma Gandhi Road last week, which led to the arrest of three suspects.

The suspects were arrested for dealing in tanzanite stones with the street value of R150 000. Major Thulani Zwane from SAPS said the suspects will be charged for dealing in tanzanite stone and theft by false pretences. They were taken to the police station for detention where they remain in custody.

“The suspects are linked to a case of theft by false pretences that occurred in July 2015 at a restaurant opposite the service station at Umhlanga. A large undisclosed sum of cash was stolen during that incident. The suspects will appear in Durban Magistrates’ Court soon,” said Zwane.
