
OPERATION Fiela has yielded positive results in various operations that the SAPS embarked on from 15 to 16 October.
Major Thulani Zwane from SAPS said this proved to be a fruitful operation, as it had secured a total of 220 arrests in KwaZulu-Natal. These arrests range from murder, attempted murder, robbery, rape, assault, theft, possession of unlicensed firearm, theft of motor vehicle, fraud, driving under the influence of intoxicating substance, intimidation, undocumented foreign nationals, kidnapping, possession of suspected stolen property, warrants of arrests, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, house breaking and drug related cases.
During these arrests police also recovered dagga, heroin, cocaine, dagga plants, rohypnol tablets, a firearm, pellet gun, ammunition, magazine, liquor, concoction, knife, computer, DVD’s, golf clubs, DVD player and a fridge.
KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lt Gen Mmamonnye Ngobeni welcomed the arrests and recoveries made.
“We would like to warn all criminals that operations such as Fiela are strategically in place so that we curb any lawlessness in our communities in the KZN region,” she said.
