Police uncover bag of cocaine at Durban harbour

Cocaine was recovered on a ship, which arrived in Durban harbour from Spain on Saturday.

TEN blocks of cocaine were recovered by the police in a reefer container ship at the Durban harbour on Saturday.

According to Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi, the ship came from Spain and was carrying refrigerated chicken.

Among the cargo, police uncovered a black bag containing the blocks of cocaine, with a weight of 1.5kg each.

Mulaudzi said this was a random search by officers and he was uncertain where the drugs were headed.

No arrests were made and police are investigating.
