Pray for rain
Arise and Act for a Just Society is appealing to the community to pause for 10 minutes at 10am on 22 November, and pray for rain.
ARISE and Act for a Just Society is appealing to the public to stand united in prayer on Sunday 22 November.
The group held a meeting on Saturday to discuss its upcoming day of prayer, where it urges churches in the area, and the community, to pray wherever they are, at 10am on Sunday.
“We are urging people to pray for rain in our country. We are experiencing the worst drought ever in 30 years in our country, the dams are drying up and animals are dying, it’s very sad. We need to pray for rain as farmers are really battling,” said Eric Tate from Arise and Act.
“We are encouraging churches to ring their bells at 10am and stay a little later after services to do this, and we hope individuals will also stop what they are doing and pray silently,” said Heila Montile.
This was the last meeting for the year for Arise and Act, and Tate said they will be very busy in the new year.
“We will be taking up the #FeesMustFall campaign, and will also focus on fighting to decrease school fees, as well as a campaign for the removal of Jacob Zuma as president,” said Tate.
