Operation Fiela has positive impact in KZN

Operation Fiela has yielded a positive impact in KZN, with 882 suspects arrested.

POLICE in KwaZulu-Natal province worked hard over the festive season to trace and arrest criminals involved in any crimes in the province.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Mmamonnye Ngobeni,congratulated police involved in Operation Fiela for making the province a safer place.

During the last week of the festive season, a total of 882 suspects were arrested for various crimes. These crimes included possession of drugs, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, murders, house robberies, rape, dealing in liquor, possession of stolen property, arson, malicious damage to property, stock theft, common assault and petty cases.

A large quantity of drugs and liquor was also seized by police during these operations. Police also recovered illegal firearms which will be sent for ballistic tests to establish if they were used in any other crimes in the province. Such operations will continue across the province.

Ngobeni encouraged the community to continue with their support in the fight against crime by providing valuable information about any criminal activities in their areas.
